It’s practically impossible not to be impressed by the world’s largest primate. For centuries gorillas featured in local folk stories in parts of sub-Saharan Africa and by the 20th century had made their way into imaginations worldwide, appearing as ultra-strong chest-beating beasts wreaking havoc in Hollywood blockbusters like King Kong and Planet Of The Apes. But although you wouldn’t want to mess with a Silverback, gorillas are highly sensitive, intelligent, sociable creatures, and DNA-wise they're our second closest living relative after bonobos and chimpanzees. Sadly our hairy cousins are critically endangered. Gorilla communities have been devastated by disease outbreaks and habitat destruction through mining, logging and road construction. And despite being legally protected in every country where they live, they're still hunted by illegal poachers and often accidentally killed in traps meant for other animals. Buy the release to help protect these majestic jungle dwellers. We will donate all proceeds to The Gorilla Organization.
